Default Curry leaves in coconut oil

I was eating curry leaves this morning when my neighbor saw me. She told me that she found eating raw leaves very difficult. So for long hair(and believe me she does have long hair) she would take the required amount of coconut oil and put a branch of curry leaves in it.Then she would warm it on gas. When it would cool down she would seieve it and then use it on her hair, twice a week. She says its pretty effective.
    What do you guys think?

I've heard this recipe alot for remedies for hairfall and to encourage growth, normally you heat the oil until the curry leaves turn black and burnt then strain through cloth.
I'm thinking of making this myself soon.

Bumping this thread up. If I use one cup of coconut oil how many curry leaves should I use. Also how long do you boil the coconut oil and curry leaves. Could you just simmer both with out bring the oil to a boil lets say about 20 mins. I like simmering better. Boiling oil has always scare the crap out of me. Always am scared of starting a fire. Also how is everyone doing with the coconut and curry oil? How long have you been using it and what are the results? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The instructions normally say to boil until the leaves turn black and crispy....i'm not entirely sure how that translates for simmering, but i can understand your point....i was concerned about maybe the high heat effecting the properties of the oil. Though simmering for 20 minutes sounds quite a while so i'd assume it would extract the properties? As for amount, i think i remember hearing 5 leaves in a cup of oil.

Thanks ChloeDharma and Sahiba I will try and simmer the whole lot . Also is there a big differences between using curry leaves and curry powder? Will the coconut oil be less effective?

I would not use curry powder as that is different than curry leaves. If curry leaves is a powder it will be called curry leaf powder with no other ingredients The leaves are the best to use in coconut oil.
