White vinegar=hair color change?

I remember noticing color difference before, but I seldom use vinegar because it makes my hair so light and fly-away and floaty. However, my scalp has been itching a lot, and in contrast to the other vinegar thread, I thought that vinegar might help. I put about 2 tbsp of white vinegar into about 2 cups of water and slowly poured it over my head while massaging my scalp last night. Then I rinsed a lot. This morning my hair looks so light in color and sparkly.

I use white vinegar because I've noticed that apple cider vinegar adds red tones. Does white vinegar add white tones?

I use white vinegar every time I wash my hair and haven't noticed any color change... though it might make it shinier - or "sparkly", as you would say. Whatever it is, I like it. I usually put a bit more than a 1/4 cup into about a quart of water and use it in between shampooing and conditioning.

I've been thinking about using white vinegar as a rinse for a while now but I wasn't sure of the lightening effect. In a recent thread on how not to tan there was a discussion about using vinegar to lighten the skin, but that was with apple cider vinegar. I only have white vinegar available to me so I tried it and over a week it has all but removed my tiny amount of tan.

So I suppose it could lighten hair if it's lightened my skin.

Oh - good point - maybe it's the incredible shine that is making it look so light in color. Too bad it's so fly-away and floaty that I have to contain it in a bun today.

Both honey and vinegar rinses, separately, make my hair so flyaway, but the combination of the two gives my hair quite nice body. Because of our soft water, I make the rinse very weak - 1 tsp. each ACV and honey in 1 pint of warm water.

I just get some vinegar in my hands and rub on my face, being careful of my eyes, it's helping keeping spots away too hurrah!!
