Ignoring a user...

Go to the page of that person and go under the persons profile picture and you see a place to click user lists you click ignore there

Or, if you can't bear to find them, their posts or their profile, go to your own User CP and down the left hand column is the option "Edit Ignore List".

And make sure you remove them from your friends list, if they're on it, or it won't work.

I am curious as to exactly what happens if you do "ignore" someone. Do you not see the posts that they post, or does it make it to where they cannot pm you or what? Inquiring minds want to know!

Not that I have anyone that I Want to ignore, just wanted an explanation.

That is weird because I tried to ignore a user once and I swear it told me I couldn't because they were on my friends list.

Now I think I'm going mad.

Just wondering why you would want to ignore a user? I've seen many varied opinions and on these posts, and definitely felt that some posters were being harsh, but never thought about excluding their posts - it's interesting to see all the dynamics. Of course, I haven't read all the threads yet, and would probably need 2 other lifetimes to be able to!!!!

I have a few on my ignore list, it makes life a lot calmer

As for what do you see:

On top in the post there is the date as usual, and where normally the post # appears there is a link: "View post". This way you can opt to read a post of an ignored person after all without having to turn the ignore feature off again.

Right below the date and view post link you will see the nick of the person and on the right "Remove user from ignore list", so the ignore action is easily undone.

And then the last line says: "This message is hidden because username is on your ignore list". The words ignore list are linked to the ignore overview in your account.
