Leaving them loose they would start to unravel some though.
I tie mine of with tiny elastics.

Jennwith4, eadwine, Sparklylady82, SThr, and meteor thank you guys for your replies. I definately need to try accent braids again one of these days... I really like the idea of using a piece of string to tie off the ends.

I tie mine with string like this: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/...d.php?t=119418
Tying it in a bow tends to fall apart pretty quickly, while this holds for days.

lauren_alia, I used to use BLAX black plastic no slip elastics on my accent braids (a long time ago). I don't know whether or not they're made any longer. I did break down and buy a package of pastel clear tiny elastics made by Goody. The elastics aren't as horrid as one might think, so long as you take them off the same way you put them on. Just pulling them off isn't hair friendly.

Wow. That whipping thing is amazing, I've GOT to try it.
I did try 8 accent braids this weekend though, and wove them into a 4-strand braid:

I made the top loose so it'd have a more 'romantic' feel, I think it worked, although you can't see that part.

Oooo these are all so pretty, I don't think my hair count is large enough for a Rapunzel braid

Are these considered accents? Just from my hair style album...
