I found citric acid in the vitamin section. It's also used for sprouting things so you can try near those supplies as well and sometimes in the canning section. I use a small dash in a 2 cup measure, but I have exceedingly hard water.

Has anyone noticed a difference when using organic vs. non-organic ACV?

When I first discovered CV bars I was using just plain old ACV from the grocery store. I finished that bottle and decided to give ACV with "the mother" a try and picked up some Bragg's Organic Unfiltered ACV. I'm about 1/3 through the Bragg's and it seems that this ACV is much better! I think the smell has gone down considerably and it seems to make my hair much smoother.

Hehe, give it a try Naturechild! Tell me how it works for you!

ETA: I just noticed that you had complained about the ACV smell. My hair is in the process of drying right now and I can't smell anything, so I hope it may be of help.

Yep, I find the same thing! The organic stuff makes a huge difference in how well I can stand vinegar rinses. I often add a glug of it to my citric acid rinse. It's the difference between vaguely vomit smelling and slightly sharp apple cider smell for me.

Oh no, that's the normal cheapo gallon sized jugs that smell so horrid to me! I know other people manage it but I'm not sure how...probably the same folks that like pickles

Bragg's, Spectrum and the like with the mother just smell like tart apple cider. Thy seem to leave my hair shinier too!

Can you get organic ACV at normal supermarkets such as Sainsburies? I am planning to get some tomorrow possibly and I think my hair deserves organic (even if I normally get the cheap food for eating!)
