So if you use 1 cup whole nuts, how much powder would that equate to?
    Rest in peace, little kitty.

This morning I tried doing the foam washing technique with Soapwort. My recipe was 2 T. soapwort root steeped in 2 1/2 c. boiling water for approx. 1 hr. Then I added 1 T. lemon juice for grease cutting power. The liquid is a medium yellow. Then I used 2 oz. of the soapwort liquid in the same foaming technique that I've been using for soapnuts.

My hair is still drying so I'll report back later on the results and post a pic!

Hi BlackfootHair! I'm not totally sure about the powder, I've never used it personally. But from what I understand, it requires a different technique. I think for the powder, you make a paste of it and apply that to the hair (with pre-oiling).

Surely there must be a way to make a tea with the powder...I have an old wig cap made out of nylon. Perhaps I could put some in there and soak it, ...hmm. I definitely don't want to apply another paste...henna is a challenge enough!
    Rest in peace, little kitty.

Haha, I know, right? That's why I wanted to use whole soapnuts! No more powders for me!

I would love to find herbs to wash with that leave my hair smelling like Aveda's Sap Moss shampoo and conditioner...

Okay, I'm mixing 6oz warm water heated in the microwave for 30 seconds in an 8 oz pyrex knockoff, added 2 tablespoons of Hesh Aritha, filled the container with more water to 8oz mark. I'm thinking of adding fragrance oil I have that I use in homemade lotion. I have all kinds of pretty scents! Plumeria, strawberries and champagne, fudge brownie, oatmeal milk and honey, citrus cilantro, and bergamont and mandarin.
    Rest in peace, little kitty.

I haven't remembered to share my horror story with soapnut powder.

I usually strain the liquid before using it but one time I was in a hurry so I just poured the liquid and the wet powder to my hair. Everything went well until I started rinsing and did not keep my eyes closed. Everyone who has had soapnut liquid in their eye knows it doesn't feel too good. Well, I can tell you soapnut powder in the eye feels worse.

I had a tiny grain in my left eye for two-three hours. I didn't see it but I felt it. My eye was burning, I was in a lot of pain and rinsing eye with water only resulted in more pain. I couldn't keep my eye open at all. It was late in the evening and I hoped I don't have to go to the doctor.

Luckily the grain came out on it's own. I simply felt an immediate relieve in pain and touched the inner corner of my eye, and there it was.

Ever since I have ALWAYS strained the soapnut liquid.
