I like it as it is

I am not able to do herringbone braids, my hair just resists any attempt, it frizzes and tangles and these little loops are just not visible

When i had slightly shorter hair probably about your length the French braid saved me from cutting it in frustration, i think i wore it like that every day for about two months.

I had my dad take a picture of of the first decent french braid I've ever done. I just wish he'd gotten the length in there.

Not a great photo but oh well. The bits of hair hanging out of the braid are my bangs, been growing those out for a while.

I think it's a Dutch lace braid. It's like a Dutch braid, but you only add hair on one side of the braid. There are instructions on dreamweaver braiding for example (those instructions are for French lace, not Dutch). It's the technique I used to do this.
