Who trims your hair?

My mom trims my hair, which is very easy to maintain since I only get a trim once every 6+ months or so. The whole year I lived abroad, I just didn't get a trim at all, so I could wait until I got home. If I do ever get to a point where it's not convenient to have her do it, I'm fairly confident I could teach DH to, since my hair is straight and I maintain a blunt hemline.

I'm self trimming from now on. I only trim about once a year when I'm growing, anyway.

If I do want a trim, which is rarely, my mother does it. I've never been to a salon other than once as a spectator ( I was waiting for mum.) so I have had no bad experiences with them.

I have an awesome hair stylist who doesn't do what I ask and trims off 1 inch when I've asked for 2. She does a very relaxing, scalp massage shampoo, too.

Last time I went to a salon was probably nine years ago. They had to have me stand to cut my hair because it was too long.

I even did a major chop myself (when I cut the color out) and it turned out fine.

If someone is going to mess up my hair I would rather have it be me. That way there is only one person to be annoyed with. If I trusted someone else with my hair and they messed it up I would be mad at me and at them. That's toooo many.

I trim my own hair now. For a long time my DH did it for me, and before that I went to salons. My worst salon experience was when I was 14 and my Grandma got me a bad perm (I asked for big loose curls, but she told them to give me cute tight curls- it looked very poodle like). The salon where I grew up was pretty good at just doing what I asked for.

I like to trim my own hair so that I have total control over it, because it is free (not counting the initial cost of hair scissors), and because I can do it anytime I want to (I don't need to wait for DH to come home, and I don't need to make appointments or drive anywhere).

I also trim my DD's hair and cut my DH's hair (he quit going to salons because they never cut the straggler hairs on his bald spot, even when he specifically requested them to).

I wish I could self-trim it would be so much more cost-effective. Everywhere seems to want 35+ for just a trim!

But right now I have short hair with many layers so I don't know how self-trimming would turn out. I'd probably look crazy.

I self-trim! I had a great hairdresser several years ago, but after two moves to different cities (and states), I just haven't felt the need to bother. My hair is easy to maintain anyway.
