Sally & Sceleste, how long did you leave your soapnuts out to dry?

OK, my hair is mostly dry and it looks and feels great after my soapnut wash day #2! Since it was kind of dry yesterday, I followed up it up with an herbal rinse made of marshmallow root & lemon.

    Here's some pics:

    And another one:

Thanks ktani! I am very happy! :-)

Next time, though, I think I will rinse out the herbal rinse....it feels a little "product-y", if you know what I mean! How long do you leave your catnip rinse on?

I leave catnip on for an hour or so.

Marshmallow contains mucilage. That could be what you are feeling as well as pectin from the lemon.

OK, thanks! I will try rinsing it out next time after an hour or so then!

    mellie

You may not need an hour with marshmallow root. See how it goes with different times and different herb combinations.

Some will build-up and some will not.

You could try a catnip treatment too - with various timing.

I prefer an hour for my hair.

If I could do the rinse for less time, that would be helpful, since I shower before work in the morning.

Oh, I forgot to mention: I only used 1 oz. of the soapnut liquid this morning! I just used it till I could feel it all over my hair, and I looked at the container, and read 5 oz. - and it said 6 oz. yesterday, so I guess I only used 1 oz! Wow!

I think this recipe may actually really work! Now, how best to preserve it? I'm sure if will only keep for a day or two in the fridge.

Also, I wonder if one of these foaming containers might be a nice way to make it foam up more:

It's not necessary at all, Sceleste's dye bottle idea is absolute genious! But it just might be nice to have the foam. :-)

I strained my soapnuts Thursday morning and left them dry to the strainer. I didn't touch them until Saturday evening when I made a new batch. That makes it 2,5 days of drying.

Mellie, if you try that foaming container, let us know how it works. I have one of those but haven't figured out a use for it yet.

Oh, cool, you have one of those containers? Can you try it with your soapnut liquid? :-)
