self made hairtoys thread

Hello Darkhorse and welcome to the Obsessive's thread.

Squiggy got so many of us hooked on making our own hair toys, it's wonderful! This thread has led many of us down the path to Homemade Hairtoy Heaven.

This glue is the BEST, imnsho. You can pick it up cheap at Walmart and it works wonderfully. I don't use the nozzle top, I keep it screwed shut and just get a toothpick to work with when I need some glue in a small spot.

I would love to see pics of the drapes you make! This hobby is SOOO addictive!! Idinit!!?

I could be in serious trouble. I already love doing crafty things to begin with and a friend of mine has been making beaded jewelry. I could seriously be making loads of hair toys....eeek!

I did a search on ebay but couldn't find plain hair sticks. I may have messed up my search though, or they may not be available to Canada.

ive gotten annother one hooked! its all going according to plan now.. mwahahaa! soon all the world will be addicted!

also here is an ebay listing though these arent as pretty as the ones listed last month
i wouldnt get them though.. they arent very pretty

I use E6000 too, but unfortunately not nearly enough. When I unscrew and open the top, the entire tube tends to dry out quicker than I can use it up.

Since for the most part, I only need a toothpick's amount at a time, I now puncture the body of the tube and squeeze out a small drop as I need it. Then I'm done with the session of gluing, I cover the hole with a piece of tape. Usually, I can keep using the same hole for several sessions and if it gets too thick, I just poke a new hole.

Since I started doing this, I've never had to throw out a dried out tube and never have a large-blob-oozing-out accident.

Haven't gotten around to the drilled/glued/beaded ends bit yet....not totally sure how to make that work. But I like things that dangle, so this works for me. ;-p
