As for damaged ends I would just cut them right off. WHACK. I think hair grows better when it's healthy. No need to waste time babying damage.

I baby my hair, not just the ends, while doing frequent 0.5-1" trims (every 10-13 weeks). It works wonderfully. Now I'm working on getting my thick hemline back, one baby step at a time. Plus, I love the softness of newly-cut ends.

I go crazy over split ends, and before LHC, I thought the only solution for them was to get big trims. One week I went to the salon twice because I was so unhappy about my ends!

I did a lot of small trims for half a year or so. My hair didn't gain any length in that time, but I'm finally happy with the ends. I think I have a good foundation for growth now.

My hair is very strong and coarse, so it takes a lot to really damage my hair and have it be noticeable. When my hair was totally virgin and uncolored, I was able to go without trimming for over a year and a half and I still had no bad split ends. I went from waist length to below TB length in that amount of time.
But even now that I have highlighted my hair and have even lightened my base color, I still haven't seen any damage. I CO every night, deep condition with oil once a week, and perhaps once in a blue moon I will have a dusting done and take off maybe half an inch to around less than an inch. |
