Is sthere a natural way to get silver highlights in gray hair - or entirely silver
My hair is slowly getting a lighter gray. In another year I might happily let it grow out. Is there any way to make it more silver without commercial dye?

I might be wrong but I don't think so.
I've used dozens of herbal rinses on my hair over the years, mainly for condition but I used some for colour.
I haven't used hair dye since 2009.

Thanks Claire. I was hoping, but not surprised there is not one. Maybe I'll try a purple shampoo, or maybe even a semi-permanent dye or rinse.

I rather think that the most stunning variety of silvers will be produced naturally by your own hair, and will be healthier and shinier than any dyes you might use. Just my opinion.

I'm not aware of any herbal dyes specifically to turn hair silver. If you like doing herbal muds (like henna or cassia) and you want something that won't deposit color over your silvers, you can try sedr!
As far as enhancing your silvers, the only thing that I think would work that won't harm your hair would be something like Manic Panic. It's not an herbal dye, but it's a deposit-only vegetable-based dye that is very gentle on the hair- in fact it's quite conditioning! I helped my mom transition from dyed hair to her natural silver/white and we used Silver Stiletto as a regular hair mask to enhance the color and to help re-condition her hair while it grew out. They also have Alien Gray and Blue Steel, which are both lovely silver-gray colors.

Thanks maborosi! I didn't realize that Manic Panic was vegetable based. It's quite likely that I'm not allergic to it. Fortunately a patch test is pretty easy to do.
