Thread: Agave syrup

  1. #1

    Default Agave syrup

Today I saw Agave syrup in the shop with organic products and it has this pretty warm golden tone. I don't use honey on my hair anymore and I've read that molasses syrup could work to moisturize too. But I would like to use agave syrup to give my hair a golden glow, like honey would do.

I was wondering if anyone had ever tried that?

Edit: I read that it's also called agave nectar?

    Sounds interesting, Phalenopsis!

I haven't tried Agave, but I've tested out a few different sugary syrups (molasses, corn syrup) in SMTs as alternatives to honey and have had good results with them. I wouldn't be surprised if it works very well for you!

Agave nectar is wonderful! It is an ingredient common in many of the gel/gelly products I use. I find that it really helps fight frizz for curlies like myself, and holds and defines the curl pattern. I use it in flaxseed gel and aloe/pectin gel with great results. I also like honey and molasses for hold and moisture. I hope you have luck with agave. It really is fantastic

I'm going to give it a go then! Maybe already going to buy it tomorrow, I'm too darn impatient!

Phalenopsis, please let me know how well it works with your hair. My hair dislikes honey as well, and I'm curious to hear if it works well for your hair.

On the other hand, I just tried agave syrup for the first time over the weekend in some green tea. It was delicious!

    I will!
And good to know, if my hair doesn't like it, I can still put it in my tea ^^

So I got the agave syrup and it wasn't expensive, if you only use it for masks. 5 dollars for a 335g bottle of organic agave syrup. Regular agave syrup probably will be even cheaper, but I could only find it in an organic shop.

I'm going to try it out in an avocado mask, where I would normally use honey ^^
