Photo issues, please help

When people send me friend request or adds messages to me most of them have a photo next to them i see but mine is a question mark...
How do I change that.
I have an avatrat picture loaded up so it cant have anything with that to do does it?

Anyway I d appreciate the help.

I don't see any avatar under your name.
My avatar is my big eyeball over there. <---

When you "edit avatar" in the User CP and get one to show up next to your posts like my eyeball, then it will also show up in friend requests.

I know I cant see it here either but when you go on profile and avatar its there.
It maybe the wrong size or file but I don't know...
I wouldn't even know how to change file type or make them smaller..
If anyone can help me with that let me know, then I have tried all options kinda.

The picture of you with the pink ribbon is your profile picture. You want to edit your avatar.

you may have confused the avatar with the profile picture or you have selected "do not use an avatar" in the options
