    Default Shedding and hair thickness

How thick is your hair, and how much do you shed?

I didn't give any number values because I know a lot of people don't count hairs.. but the other shedding poll is a good reference.

So, self-reported, in your opinion (and accounting for the increased mass of sheds when the hairs are longer), is your shedding light, average, or heavy?

I will start - I have barely ii hair (2.5" circumference at the crown, 2" at the nape) and it's always been thinnish. I shed heavily by my count, right now 80-150 hairs per day (counted at washing and averaged over the time since my last wash), always have, it runs in the family.. it's improved recently.

It's my pet theory that low shed rates are most common with thick hair (unfairly - you have many more hairs on your head and still lose fewer!), and with a longer terminal length (this can't really be proven though as few people here are at terminal).

I chose iii hair, light shedding. I've never lost much hair, and since I'm taking supplements I loose maybe 5-10 a day...

I'm a ii, measuring at 3.3 inch. My hair shed I think would be average?
I normally lose 80-90 hairs a day but my hair shed increases on my weekly hair wash. It goes up to 100+ hairs.

ii hair, heavy shedding. My hairs are absolutely everywhere. Which irritates my family to a great degree because I can't even pass through a room without leaving a few long red strands behind XD

And as for hair thickness, I'm also on the low end of ii.

I'm on the low end of iii, and I hardly ever shed. I've noticed that I lose a few hairs here and there, but it's not like I find them all over the place.. I probably really only lose 20-30 daily. My shedding is really light.

I'm ii/iii, though chose iii in the poll as I'm exactly 4". I have low shedding , I'm guessing around 20 hairs.

I've got myself classed as a ii/iii, but I chose ii for the poll, since usually when I measure pony circ. I'm around 3.75". I think I average around 30- 50 hairs a day.

On another note, I always had the opposite theory that rhubarbarin has about shedding - I always thought people with thicker hair would shed more (more hair = more in resting phase at any given time = more sheds, was my logic). It will be interesting to see how the poll goes.

I voted iii and light shedding. On most days I would estimate an average of 20 hairs/day, but on wash days (about once a week) it can be a lot higher, maybe around 60-80 hairs?

I voted iii with light shedding. Certainly under 20 a day. Even with the season change and I'm shedding a bit more, it probably is around 30 or 40.
