Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
Gorgeous! ..hmmm... I can't help but wonder if they would help keep some of my sneaky layers from popping out of buns!
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
I was thinking that too Grillz! I do hate my spiky braids!!
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
Are these made with yarn? They're lovely.

For those who don't know what this is:
"Parandi is a long bunch of threads with elaborate decorative tassels at the lower end, and are used by Punjabi women to braid their long hair"

You can buy them online, but you can easily make them yourself.
These are the Parandi I've made:

I prefer mine without tassels, because I use them for my braided buns.

You can use them to make your braids look longer and fuller and your buns look huge! It's also nice to use contrasting colors to your hair color or colors that matches the color of your clothes.
This is how it looks down:

Because this post is already very picture heavy, you can find the instruction on my
website. Hope this is helpful and sorry for any mistakes (I'm not a native speaker :o)
I would love to see your Parandi pictures! :D

habioku
Gorgeous in your hair and I love your colour choices! Your hair is beautiful too.
Thank you for sharing.
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
Gorgeous! :thud: How did you make them? (I am creativity-challenged sometimes, and I can't figure it out from the pics :o)
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
So cool! I want a hot pink one! and a green one! and a blue one...
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
Thanks a lot! :D
@RapunzelKat: I posted the link under the last pic! :)
@akurah: Yes, they are out of yarn :)
Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
I made one :D Although, I think got my measurements wrong, as my wool tail part is only a little stub (about 2-3" after hair runs out). Ah well time to make another!!
Made my braid HUGE!! And the extra length I did, get helps me keep braid in a bun :)
Oh, also with my hair being fine and slippy, my bun has not moved, its so solid, this sucker aint gunna move :D
Thank you Habioku, for your instructions :blossom:

Re: Show me your Paranda/Parandi
Those look really lovely. I especially love the multi-tonal green one with your hair colour. I know what I'm spending the afternoon doing now. Thanks. :)
It looks to be much more protective of the ends than an elastic (or ribbon) and exposed braid tassel. Also, I imagine hair toys are easier to slip between the threads of these than with similar braided buns with scarves.
