You can do it with a comb, just use your hands a lot to make sure the hair is straightened and very close to the head. In fact, I barely used the brush to make my mom's tubi.
Okay great thank you! I will try this tonight :)
Re: How to relax curly hair – My Crown Wrap method
I just showed this thread to my mom and she says that people used to do their tubies like you did when she was young, and that some people still use that method. :D

That's so neat :D
"My" method is very very easy.
I knew there should be something out there, but I guess I had to find something that works for me to share here and only then find out other great methods. I invented the cycle lol :p

I found the video you talked about, here it is:

She started from the right side, doesn't make the hair on the left side go the wrong way?
No, a wrap is a wrap. If it's done correctly then your hair should fall down straight regardless of where you part or the direction you wrap the hair in.
Re: How to relax curly hair – My Crown Wrap method
I have tried Heidi's method and it did work. Here are some pictures:

It definitely made it more relaxed that air drying, which can be seen here:

I realise my hair is uneven and in severe need of a trim :blushing: I'm getting one soon!

Re: How to relax curly hair – My Crown Wrap method
I think I will give this a shot tonight, or tomorrow night. I will take pics of the results.
I hope I do it right!
Re: How to relax curly hair – My Crown Wrap method
I learned this method of straightening hair back in 1973....... Doesn't that make me old? My aunt from Chile (S.A.) taught us this when long straight hair was so popular. It works great except my hair would 'hurt' when I combed it out. I should say my scalp was extra tender where i would part it against the direction it was dried in. It does work well if you are very careful and use Lots of pins .

This is how mine looks today after SMT and allowing to air dry. Perhaps I should just let it go like this and not try to make it straighter LOL as I still end up with some waves after attempting to straighten anyhow.
