I'm definitely getting a pair of
these in my goal size with my next BAF order. I had a teal-faux-opal pair that was the same style, and they were amazing in person. I got a lot of compliments.
I have a pair of earrings that are very similar to those from BAF. They really are pretty.
Doug said that his wife picked up some lab-created opal today and he's going to do a sample inlay tomorrow. I hope he can work with it. This would be my dream hairstick.

I received the following convo from Doug this evening:

Well, curiosity got the better part of me after work... and I'm standing by my original statement, it just doesn't look good in our opinion. Not only is it hard as a rock, (no pun intended) but it looks kind of like light blue washed out glass. I don't think you'll like it.
I replied that I greatly appreciated all the trouble that he went to.
I decided on a 5" cocobolo Chloe with double (blue) turquoise inlay. He's going to make one for me. :D
He also said that he has a number of Chloes made up already that he will be posting soon. Not to enable anyone or anything.

Your stick sounds awesome - I'm looking forward to seeing it made up :D

You guys are all evil enablers!
His work is truly beautiful. I've had an idea for a hairstick in my head for some time, but I'm not sure if it's doable. It involves gemstone inlay too, and this is the first time I've seen a hairstick artist who comes close to already doing what I have in mind. I'm going to contact him to see if my design idea is even possible on a turned stick.
If it is, I'll be digging through my couch cushions for the spare cash to buy one! :D
