Thanks, I will try that. :)
Why don't you oil right after washing?

Loviatar...
You leave the rinse in for a bit, eh? I always dump, shake with fingers, pause, then rinse out. I wonder what the benefit is to leaving the mix in. I'll have to check it out.
It's too bad there aren't many "awesome" reviews about the mehandi shampoo bars here as there are on Catherine's site. I'd like to try them but, uh, 12.50 is a leeetle too much for me to spend on something I've never tried before that has some really unfavorable reviews.
I do plan on trying a serpentine shampoo bar (the Kahlua and Medusa sound like they smell amazing :p).
Oskimosa, I only leave my rinse in a bit because my ends and length are dye-damaged. But it seems to help. I showed my friend my hair this weekend and she said she couldnt tell it was damaged at all. One more miracle to thank CV bars for.
The only people I see saying REALLY good things about the Mehandi bars are Catherine herself and unnamed "guests." Other than that, people seem to think it's "ok" but not some kind of miracle product. It's rather fishy to me. There's also quite a few people these days reporting gunkiness and problems getting them to work right. Seriously, I think they must work like any other bar on this planet. The cost is merely a double-markup because we're not getting them direct from the source. The soapmaker gets a profit as does Catherine, thus the sky-high price.
I checked with her soapmaker's website and did not, of course, see the Mehandi bars. I would try some of the bars from her website, maybe, and see how those work. Her stuff must be at least decent for Catherine to commission her with the poo bars.
Loviatar, thanks for the reply. I have near-virgin hair; just henna and a bit of heat styling. My hair seems to be in great condition, though, so perhaps leaving the acidic rinse wouldn't help me out.
Ok, I was a sucker for the great reviews at H4H and got the Zypherus (sp) bar. I havent tried it yet but will let you know how it goes.
I can't believe how much I'm enjoying the shampoo bars now! I've used a bar everyday for six days (2 with the mehandi (yes-those bars), 1 with the CV babassu marshmallow, 2 with the CV rosemary mint, and today with the babassu again. The first 4 days were meh-not horrible-horrible, but heavy, stringy on the limp side hair. Yesterday and today-with a stronger ACV rinse- true love!. I cannot believe that this is my hair-no conditioner, no leave-in--smooth, defined curls with body and, get this--NO FRIZZ! I also posted this over at nc.com since I am so thrilled. Of course, whose to say what will happen tomorrow, but, for now I'm a happy camper, even though I still haven't quite figured out what my hair needs in terms of styling products! I will try the h4h ginger/cardamom(sp) bar again to see if getting past this detox stage makes any difference in performance. I'm curious to see others feedback on the different h4h ones as well. I think it will be fine, but no better than the CV bars. I have another list of ones to try, but I want to wait until some of the unavailable ones are ready to order.
I ordered 4 CV sample bars last Sunday:
Cafe Moreno
Rosemary Lavender Aloe
Nettle
Olive Basassu
I received my order yesterday and tried Cafe Moreno today. I lathered twice and did an ACV rinse. Wow! Hair is so shiny and soft! Nice body as well! I still have frizz as I always do, but I think it's because I rubbed my hair too hard (every time! :(). (Whispering to myself) I'll be gentler next time, I promise ....
Curly Girl Fla, I'm so happy for you! Maybe you won't end up needing styling products; I never do. I'm not curly like you, but I'm wavy, that has to count for something :p
I tried the lemon lavender bar on my hair last night. It was pretty good, no real complaints. It didn't lather on the first go so I rinsed and tried again. The second time I got lots of suds. I remember someone saying a while back that it made their hair ultra shiney. I guess it was the rinse she used, because my hair has the same shininess as usual with the CV bars. Babassu marsh mallow is still my favorite!
