Re: Yulia Tymoshenko Tutorial for Shorter Hair *Pic Heavy*
I always loved Yulia's braids. I always thought she was stylish. I've wanted to wait until my hair was longer to do something like Irene Dunne's hair in "I Remember Mama" which I remember from one scene is basically two braided pigtails at the back of her neck that gets wrapped around her crown. I think this is a great tutorial! I don't have to wait.

Re: Yulia Tymoshenko Tutorial for Shorter Hair *Pic Heavy*
Beautiful and I think I'm even following the instructions properly in my head (for once). Will try this tomorrow morning if I have the time :)

Wow! It's amazingly clever, and you are too cute for words :)
I had always assumed Tymoshenko's hair was fake. The Ukraininans and Russians always mutter about her hair being as fake as she is, and her Lesya Ukrainka aspirations... But now I am beginning to think I was unfair to her! I learn something new every day.

Really helpful! Your hair is gorgeous. I love your eyes too, they have a very nice shape. :)

Looks very pretty and interesting, but I couldn't follow the instructions! I really want to try it... :D

This is soo cool and you are soo clever for finally working out how she does it! I'll have to try this at some point when my arms are feeling strong.

I'm glad I've inspired you guys.
You could possibly thicken out the braid by making the halo hair on that side a bit thicker, especially towards the parting rather than behind your ear end? So as your layers "run out" you can add more from the halo side and it should even out the thickness. Hope that makes sense.

wow! Nice! Your so clever!! I'll have to try this!
Re: Yulia Tymoshenko Tutorial for Shorter Hair *Pic Heavy*
Arya, you are a genius! I've been trying this since you posted it, and the technique works perfectly, though my results aren't perfect yet lol. My hair is only an inch longer than APL, so what happens is that the braid only keeps its thickness until just past the first ear; after that I am braiding the 'halo' hair only so it gets thin really quickly. I probably also need to adjust the relative size of the sections. Plus my braiding skills have not been helped by a run in with a new conditioner that smells fab but has left my hair very tangly. :(
But I thought you might like to know that the technique works fine in theory even on just past APL hair. I can see this working extremely well in a few inches time!!! :)

You are so wonderful!! I've always wanted to do just that to my hair but was not sure I could ever get hair past my mid-back. I'm not that skilled yet but now I have something to go off of and practice. Thank you soo much.:cheese:
