Should these be periodically deleted to avoid overloading the site/memory?

I wondered that too, but I didn't want anyone to go, "OMG! Nightshade deleted my messages, she must hate me!" ;)

I think I've got about 30 pages of them now; seems excessive. But I don't want anybody to think I don't value our conversations, either. I just want a smoothly running system that doesn't crash.

I have always kept mine, since some of them mean quite a lot to me, and I hope that I am not overloading the server by keeping them. It is hard to be "selective", and delete only some of them, since that can only cause hurt feelings for someone whose messages I might have deleted.

Dianyla's first thought on this is no, it's not a server strain.

You should always post links to pictures for which you do not have copyright, but your own pictures hosted at Photobucket, say, are not a problem for the LHC server if you post the pictures themselves.

I did wonder that in the begining, and I did delete some, but it left "message was deleted by user" instead, and I didn't like the LOOK of that! :(
