The Long Hair Community is a strictly non-commercial site. That means you may not use any part of the LHC forums, including the private messaging system, for conducting business, except as outlined below:
You may:
use the swap board to sell or swap hair-related items that you've outgrown, items that didn't work for you, or personal items that you don't need anymore
include an unobtrusive link to your store and/or eBay auctions in your signature, no larger than size 2 font
include a link to your store/auctions in your profile
if you start selling hair-related items after you've been a member here for a while, you're permitted to talk about it in your journal once. After that, all advertising must be limited to the link in your signature.
NOTE: Existing journal entries about your products posted before the date of this announcement (Oct. 13, 2007) are exempt from this rule - you don't need to delete old entries.
answer direct questions from other members about your products. Answer the question, but don't use it as an opportunity to then toot your own horn.
acceptable scenario: "How long are your sticks?"
"Thanks for asking - they're 5 inches."
unacceptable scenario: "How long are your sticks?"
"Thanks for asking - they're 5 inches. By the way, I also sell forks and barrettes, and if you don't see something you like, I can take custom orders."
place an ad on LHC via Google Ads if you want more advertising. To do this, clicking the link at the top of each page that says, "Advertise on this site" and apply directly to Google.
You may not:
sell or swap items not related to hair
sell or swap items in any part of the site except the swap board
offer to make items on a custom basis (whether once or on a recurring basis) - you'll have to do that on your own site. It's not ok to hint at it and tell people to just PM you, either. No means no!
continually mention your own products
start threads that serve as nothing but advertising for yourself, including threads in the guise of soliciting feedback on your designs
likewise, don't ask your customers or friends to start advertising threads for you
organize group orders, nor may you buy "extras" and then sell them on the swap board
sell items you made using someone else's copyrighted pattern/design - that's illegal, and we won't allow it.
send LHC members free or discounted items in return for asking them to praise your products on the boards. If you want to send people samples, fine, but you cannot ask or indirectly suggest that they do your advertising for you.
Attempts to weasel your way around these rules will not be viewed upon kindly, and the moderation team reserves the right to delete anything we think has a commercial agenda. Rather than argue publicly over a deletion, please PM a mod for clarification. We are happy to explain our stance. If in doubt, please don't hesitate to Contact the Mod Team (mailto:tlhcstaff@googlemail.com) before posting something.

In addition to deleting threads or posts that violate these rules, the moderation team will issue an appropriate warning. Repeated infractions will earn you a temporary or permanent ban.
