View Full Version : Recommendations for a henna to upkeep this color:

I recently dyed my hair from a bright, unnatural red to a more natural red as I will be graduating nursing school soon and would rather not have to wear a wig to work! But since I finally have a color that I feel could be kept up with henna, what henna brand/color would you recommend to keep this color? This dye is over three different shades; hair that has been bleached with 40 vol, hair bleached with 10 vol, and then my natural color. The dye evened out all of the harsh lines... I hope henna will do that too. Any recommendations?

I'd be willing to go slightly more red, but remember I work in a hospital and have to maintain a conservative appearance at work, so nothing too insane. Also: my natural color is a medium ash blonde or possibly a light brown... I'm not really sure.

I don't think that this is quite as bright as yours, but pretty close:

I love your current color, btw.

I think they are pretty close, actually. Great color. This also seems just a tad darker than my own right now. I dont think this will be possible to maintain with natural dark blonde bordering to light brown. I have white hair, this is why I can maintain it for some time at least. Have to be VERY careful.

I would try perhaps Yemeni light in glosses, no full hennas. The roots may need some full henna or a strong gloss, but be careful. I'm not sure though, it depends entirely on your virgin color. 50/50 with cassia/henna is also a possibility.

It looks like my own shade, but still loads redder. I like it!
maybe a full head of a very short amount of time after a few months if you don't like the colour to fade? It will make it more coppery then. You could also do a full head application now, because chemical reds tend to fade very quickly, and leave it in longer if you want it to be darker.
If you do not want darker hair I recommend mixing with cassia and not leaving it in too long.
