I'm trying to keep from having to trim my hair for awhile but I need some tips on how to keep those nasty splits away

I swim like a crazy person and the chemials are always very unblanced so it doesn't help :S

any tips are great :)

Well, I dont swim, but many people here who do strongly suggest wearing a swim cap. Perhaps even wetting your hair before you put it on.

Also, wear your hair up when you can, condition well, detangle carefully, dont abuse the brush or other styling tools. Basically be as gentle as you can. But definitely, if you do get splits, snip them off or they will get worse..

Have a look at this article (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=42). That should help you out with exactly how to protect your hair. :flower:

Welcome to LHC! It's a great place. :cheese:

I have never been a lover of swimcaps as I always think of them as causing more splits, through friction of taking them off and on but I find adding oil prior to swimming helps or just a high bun and keeping your head above the water!
