Manic Panic / special effects color question.

I think this is the right forum for this question ...

I am thinking of trying a vegetable based dye like manic panic , special effects or something similar.The problem is I want a chocolate brown color and they don't have that color ( that I could find)

Does anyone have any recommendations for similar brands that have a brown color choice ? And if I want a dark brown is it possible to mix the colors together ( 2 or more) to get the color I want or is that not recommended ?

I have never used anything but conventional demi or semi dye , so this is new to me. I may eventually work my way up to hendigo but I wanted to try this first....but if its not possible I may just have to dive into the hendigo pool. :D

I don't know of any other brands, but you CAN mix Manic Panic and Special Effects if you want to =) To make a brown you can use equal parts yellow and red, and slowly add amounts of blue till you get the shade you want

Manic Panic used to make a couple brown shades. I don't remember the name of the lighter one, but the dark chocolate brown was called "Nefertiti." I don't know whether or not it's still available, though, since I don't see it on their website anymore.

Be very careful with the base colors when doing that, you can easily end up with a muddy greenish color. I've done that with paint many times :lol:

That would just be my luck and I can't pull off green hair :p but its good to know I can mix them.

I will go search for the Elumen thread... Am I right in assuming its the same type temporary dye ?
