Hello folks... I just want to check whether it is safe for me to dye my hair with a regular chemical dye (Loreal Casting Creme Gloss - Mahogany).
I still have henna in my hair from where I dyed it in approximately October. I used Lush Caca Marron.
I have read about henna's and chemical dyes having a bad reaction due to metal salts used in some henna dyes or something like that? Looking at all the ingredients in Caca Marron they are all non metalic natural plant extracts.
What do people thing?
Thanks
Sam

Whoever says henna lasts forever is wrong.... it is a coating and with plenty of shampooing it will gradually wear off a little. If you used BAQ henna, you can color over it without fear of bad reaction.
I hennaed my hair for my husband as he likes it fire-engine red. It seemed a bit much so I waited about 4 or 5 weeks, it had started to fade a little, and I successfully chemically dyed over the henna

I respectfully disagree. If you've only hennaed your hair once it does indeed often fade, but if you have multiple layers on your hair it's not going anywhere. My length hasn't been touched by henna in two and a halve years and it still the same color it was when I applied it. And I wash my hair every other day with a SLES shampoo!!
Sam82: I think you should be fine. There are no metallic salts in Lush, so that shouldn't be a problem. Sometimes Indigo (which is in it) can give a little trouble, but your indigo is probably long washed out. But still, it's a smart thing to do a strand test. Better safe ...

I have used chemical dye both before and after I dyed my hair with Lush henna. And I have used Lush henna on multiple occasions (both caca brun, caca marron & caca rouge). I have never had any problems with it :)
Since Lush seems to be thorough with the table of contents of their henna and other products I personally trust them when they say that there aren't any metallic’s in it.

I dyed with the Lush henna around September last year so should I be fine with regards to the Indigo in the henna now?
I'm still going to strand test though, just welcome your feedback x
Thanks everyone

Good luck! I dyed with Natural Instincts over bleached henna and it turned out fine :)

It does last forever. Mine's never faded and I've shampooed it with SLS/ALS, clarified, oiled daily..the colour never budges...why? Lawsone bonds to the keratin in your hair...and keratin won't budge. Many people who have grown out henna have reported that the tips of their hair is still as bright and shiny as the last time they hennaed. Yes henna coats the hair, but it also goes much deeper than that.
