Hi guys,
Recently for some reason my hair is very brittle (especially when wet) and it breaks easily. It is still growing but very sensitive, I dont dye it with anything other than henna, I dont use any heat but it still breaks. I am also a vegetarian if it helps so maybe im not getting enough protein. But anyways, I heard that eggs and mayo are good for brittle hair, but im wondering if it will correct the problem or just coat the hair. Has anyone ever used these with success? or is it just a temporary fix for brittle hair.
thanks :)

I use a mayo, a little olive and some honey mixture sometimes on my hair. It makes it soft. I haven't noticed any buildup but I don't use eggs so I don't know about that. I think if you rinsed well it would be okay. Hope this helps a little! :hifive:

Yeah, Im just also worried about the smell. I remember when I use olive oil and ACV it is hard to get the smell out sometimes and I heard eggs smell worse.

I'm thinking eggs and mayo might be too much protein for your hair if it's snapping without stretching even when wet.
Take a look at this. (http://blackbeautyblackhair86911.yuku.com/topic/511/t/Hair-Breakage-and-Shedding-101.html)
If you need protein, the eggs/mayo thing might work. Alternatively, there are some good protein deep treatments (often termed "reconstructors") on the market, such as Joico's K-PAK. I don't know whether those are vegetarian or not in their protein sources.
If you need moisture, I'm a real fan of the SMT (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=128), though even letting hair soak in a warm blend of conditioner and pancake syrup has given me superb moisture, so don't let a lack of ingredients stop you.

I reccomend getting hair mayo. which already has eggs in it.
I just recently used an egg white mask, when i washed it off with COOL water it still managed to boil fry eggs in my hair which was a pain to get out! and, it STUNK

I agree with Anje - I don't think you should be applying more protein treatments if your hair is brittle and breaking, as that usually shows a lack of moisture, rather than protein.
Instead, I would do a lot of deep conditioning treatments. Warm oil, aloe vera, and a good conditioner together and apply that every day if you have the time. Also look at the shampoo you are using, and perhaps consider trying out CWC (Condition-Wash-Condition) washing. :flower:

I haven't tried eggs for my hair but mayo gave me fabulous result. At first it was awkward to apply because it's sticky but when you see the results it's all worth it. It made my hair shiny and brought it back to life. :)
