Hi!
I´ve done a mixture of Aloe vera and few drops of Essential Lavender oil, just to make my hair smell great. I love it, but I want to make sure that this does not damage my hair. In that case it is just not worth it. I could need some help. Do anyone have an idea? :)

Hi, Rebecka! Welcome to the LHC!
In answer to your question, since EOs are used in just about anything with fragrance, and lavender is among the most commonly used of the EOs, you should not have a problem with it. The most likely issue would be if you had an allergy or an otherwise adverse reaction to the EO, but this would be a skin reaction. Some EOs can dry your hair out, but I am pretty sure lavender isn't one of them, and as long as you apply it through an oil medium (aloe suits) you're great. :)

Hi Medievalmaniac! Thanks!
Thanks for your thorough and awesome answer. I feel much more calm now. I´ll report back to you if the lavendar should try my hair out.
Thanks again. :)

Lavender and aloe is a nice blend! I love placing a drop with a small amount of aloe vera... either from the plant itself or the organic bottled type. I love aloe vera, it's fresh and healing to my skin.
Lavender is gentle is so is Rose Geranium.
I've learned to use less when it comes to essential oils, more is not better. They are very potent. I was using oils blended with a variety of essential oils... "to help with hair growth." I found I would shed even more and was told that those particular strands were probably ready to shed anyways.
But now I don't think so. I think it was because I was using too many drops in my blends.
What I have learned (for me) is that using one or two drops of an essential oil, to say an ounce of oil, works best! I no longer shed after an application and I do believe I am receiving the benefits needed by my chosen eo.
Just thougth I would share that...

I like essential oils too but I don't really know how to use them. I put a couple drops in coconut oil or olive oil and then put it on my ends. :) I also put rosemary e.o. in jojoba oil on my scalp.

I haven't, but I use it to dry up zits and cold sores, so I would think it would be drying.

I put a few drops of tea tree oil in my shampoo for dandruff, but I wouldn't put it straight on my hair. Mixed with another oil should be fine though.

Any essential oil should be okay to use in your hair as long as it is diluted in a carrier.

There are a few exceptions. Certain essential oils (cinnamon, wintergreen, and lots of others) really aren't safe even for skin contact. Make sure you know what you're using and whether it's safe, don't just apply something because you like the smell.

I use it in my daily leave-in conditioner, but it is about ten drops in a bottle of other oils and conditioners. The mix is lovely. Perhaps on it's own it might be drying. I didn't know you could use it on zits, nice!
