ok, so I did a few things quickly, against some advice, but I did what I thought would work, and, it did :D . I used Jamila, chamomile tea, let it sit in my hair for 3 hours, then rinsed and co'd it out. There was no gritty feeling, no tangles, and my hair is so soft, and, Copper!! I know it's going to take a few days for the real color, but even if it's a shade or two different (lighter or darker) I know I'll love it as much as I do now:D (sorry folks, I'm just so geeked that what I did worked, no strand test, no waiting all night, and I only let the Jamila sit for 2 hours before I used it.) So I figure I got really lucky on my first try, yay!! :cheese: Thanks to those who answered my questions, and gave me courage to jump in the henna pool ;) You all are super and without you I wouldn't have tried it at all on my own, thanks ;)

Thanks! Its strange how it looks different colors in different light, this morning it looks a little darker, and I must say I am surprised at how quickly my hair took this much color.

That's a beautiful copper colour! I henna'ed too a couple of days ago, but I got a darker mahogany-red colour with coppery highlights. I was looking forward to a more coppery tone like yours (:)), but then I let it in my head for four and a half hours..

Yes, mine was dark-reddish the day I henna'ed, and next day, it was redder and redder by the minute, the ends growing more coppery...It looks so natural, nothing like a chemical dye. And your hair becomes just shiny and soft!

It looks like you got just about the color you were hoping for, no? :cheese: Congratulations, and welcome to the dark side... We have cookies ;)
Now the tricky part: Maintaining at juuuust the color you want, without going much darker. If you're happy with the color you get after oxidation completes, I'd suggest no more than one more full-head application, then going to roots-only. Ask me how I know this...

That is the nature of henna......you can look at it in one light, and it looks brown, but get in the sun or other bright light and WOW! I love the variances......very cool! Your color turned out gorgeous, btw......

Congrats! I hope mine will turn out well on the first try so nervous, lol
Any ideas for a newbie to get the color like scully in the xfiles? What henna to use to start? I am a natural redhead (strawberry blonde) but faded since I got older to blonde with some redish golden tones but I get very blonde highlights in the summer. Didn't realize how blonde my hair got till I compared them to my test henna tumbleweeds :) My hair always took red to the extremes and not in a good way with box dye I could never use red box dye only browns. But from what I can see from the test balls that any will look nice and should take well but I'd like that color if possible. Thanks for any help you can give...http://www.pixies-bookshelf.com/kaw/images/kaw-scully.jpg
The browns sometimes gave me auburn but all box dyes never lasted on me and always looked washed out! So glad I found henna just want to have a good experience to start :)
Another pic I know the lightss will show different but want same tone. Thanks again :)http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTe2G1FABw8dw7YNxi8MYR4oJNS8Hwmk Lvxhiau8vtYI_fdRCW3bw

well, I'm hoping the other henna heads will jump in soon to help you, (I am no expert by far) but I posted pics of my before color, asked others what they thought about me achieving my color, I also got some tips from Rocketdog, and I used Jamila henna. I took chances and did not do a strand test, just mixed it up, waited about 2 hours, applied it, waited 3 hours, hubby checked my baby hairs for color difference, and I rinsed with water, did not touch my hair, let the shower do the work of getting it out, added some conditioner, worked it through my hair, rinsed, and was done. I did mix the henna with hot chamomile tea, which I think helped. Thanks to all the tips I got, and encouragement, I got my color, and I love it. My advice is post your questions, ask for tips, and try to find someone who hennas that has the color you want, and ask what they do. Good luck, and, thanks :)

Just start a new thread with your specific henna questions, your hair background and a picture of your haircolor as it is and then it will get way more exposure than it does on page three of geosangels thread:blossom:
ETA: almost forgot!! Lovely color geosangel!!!

Geosangel, what was your starting color? Do you have virgin hair? Looks lovely.

Thanks :) my starting color was virgin, the pic is in my album. I have before and after there. It was multi colored (sun bleached) blonde/brownish/reddish..weird, as I get older and changed my haircare routine, the colors changed as well. I swear this henna never oxidized or whatever it does, because the henna color has stayed the same as it was the next day after..but I'm happy with it :)
