well ive used Lush in the past and really liked it and ive done henna glosses BUT today is my first ever proper grown up henna.
I mixed 200g with hot tap water and hibiscus juice (hibiscus leaves soaked for an hour in boiling water and then added to my henna mix) mixed some Irish moss and argan oil and then dampened my hair and plopped it on my hair.
A lot of people say its easier than Lush..id disagree my bathroom looks like a load of ducks have pooed all over the floor, walls, sink..some even landed in the toilet:confused: it was messy! but didnt take long to clean up.
I managed to cover all my hair..hopefully and I am going to leave this on my head for 5 hours, its only been 21 minutes so far and already feels heavy....lush never felt this heavy!
Now my question.......my hair was a brown red from the lush and glosses-see siggi (dark blond naturally) will I get a nice red from this? and can I hear especially from those who add hibiscus be it in henna or as a rinse. Ive never used it before but I am hoping for a red hue fingers crossed and I will post photos when ive done.....sooooo excited here:cheese:

Hi Jojo,
I did my first BAQ henna about a month ago. I have almost the same hair color as you. I've colored my hair for years to cover my greys mostly. I grew tired of putting chemicals on my head, so switched to pure henna and loved the results! The brown is a lot more red, and my whities turned really red - which is great.
Now that I've done my first full head henna, would you do a second full head henna before going to root touch-ups? Just curious. Please post result pict's if you can!

I will definitely be posting a photo once its done, excited to see the difference a powdered henna opposed to the lush. Im hoping for an auburn/dark cherry colour but will see!

:spitting: "...like a load of ducks pooed all over the floor"... :rollin:
Now that you've made that incredibly apt comparison, I don't think I'll ever be able to describe it any other way!

I was told once before that it looked like I was smearing goose sh!% in my hair. Same person also said it looked like baby feces.
Oh well, that's what I get for applying henna outside, in view of weird friends. But I also hennaed his daughter, and rinsed the mess out by mermaid-soaking in a lake! Fun times.

Good luck!
I think it will certainly have a red hue. But first real henna application (next to gloss) is always a surprise.
I think I did about 3 fullhead henna applications before starting to do only root jobs for about 6 months. Yesterday I did a fullhead application again (this time with henndigo).
After the third application I was satisfied with the intense red colour, but that is very personal

Yeah, it does get all over the freaking place. I've started to sit in my shower with a shampoo cape draped over me & the shower curtains shut. At least then it's limited to one easy to clean area.

Ive done full henna's before but only with lush which gave a strong colour but had indigo in it, this is my first red henna!
well I have rinsed out an our sooner than planned and its red! well copperish near my hair line where my hair is lighter, its still wet yet but will post some photos tomorrow. I think once it has oxygenated it will be a nice chestnut red.
Rinsing it out proved easier than the lush henna, I just mermaid rinsed, emptied bath, mermaid rinsed again, emptied bath and then put handfuls of herbal non cone conditioner, left for 3 minutes after massaging it and then rinsed.
My hair feels softer than when I used Lush and isnt as wavy, but I got that with lush for the first 24 hours and then it came back but not to worry if it doesnt. It looks a dark orangutang red at the moment but that will go darker over the next few days but it certainly feels good even wet!

for my two cents they are definitely baby hairs.
And you have the most beautiful hair. (Colour and condition and length).

Thank you for posting this, Jojo. I love looking at before and after pictures. =)
By the way, what colour did you use?
jojo

I used brun and marron twice and 2 red hennas, but have since removed it successfully with colour B4. I have an album if your interested.

Congrats on getting such a lovely color!
I use hibiscus in mine as well, although mine is an ingredient in one of the teas I used.
LMAO @ the description of the ducks! Very apt.
LOL, my shower looked like Swamp Thing had come to visit right after I was done rinsing.
