mixing some henna now, does it matter if its a bit lumpy? And does it matter how long I've been mixing or itss been on the oven hob for?

Get the lumps out, for sure! How long it needs to sit depends on type & freshness.

it's on my head now, felt really nice going on like a face pack on my head :) I did notice that since it took a while to mix together it darkened alot. Not sure how long I should leave it on for the women in Lush said 4 hours. I did a strand test but it didn't seem to make much difference. And for some reason the strand test is just for 20 mins till an hour.

You can freeze the leftovers if it is real henna.

If it contains indigo, you can still freeze it, but the indigo will not colour very much anymore or not at all

If the indigo wont work does that mean the colour next time will be more red? I should just remember to use half the bar next time. The women in the shop (who was really lovely) said she thought I'd need the whole bar as my hair was quite long. Lol, it's not long at all!

I don't know how to compare a regular henna mix in amount to the lush bars.

But I do know that I used too much henna at first. Last time I only used 100 grams of henna and 50 grams of indigo for my hip lenght hair (whole head application). I must admit that my hair is very thin. The first time I used 500 grams (bsl length) and froze the leftovers. After that I used about 250 grams for whole head application.
now I know I can even use less, while my hair is a lot longer.

For a root application I use about 75 grams and do a gloss with the leftovers.

I never tried to freeze a henna/indigo mix, but I've read somewhere that indigo cannot be frozen and used again. The colour won't dye that well. I think I read it on www.hennaforhair.com (http://www.hennaforhair.com)

So it might turn up to be more red than it is now, but i'm not sure...

Maybe someone has experienced this?
