I have some functions to attend and am trying to time my first ever henna application just right!

5-7 days for it to oxidize completely, but it's mostly settled after three days.

After shampooing out the henna after application, I don't wash my hair again for at least two more days, and it seems to oxidize by day 3 or 4.

Since it's my first time I'm only going to leave it on a couple of hours AND I'm planning on a 50/50 Henna & Cassia mixture. I ideally want the color of my hair in the avatar. That was taken the day I colored it, Dec 24. Would you believe it's faded SO much since then? Naturally my hair is a dull, ashy medium auburn.....red when I was a child, but faded heavily with age.

Okay, one more question.....will my hair look "weird" on day 2? Like will it stand out in a bad way? I don't want people to make comments behind my back!

Mine doesn't look "weird" on day 2. . . just a little bright. You could always do a strand test to see how your mixture is going to turn out. It will be slightly different from the final results because of body heat, but close enough to know whether the mixture is off.

I use very strongly colouring Yemeni henna, so my hair is still very orange on day two, it takes about four days to turn auburn. You're using half henna and half cassia, so I wouldn't expect it to be particularly 'weird' looking on day 2, but like the previous poster suggested, do a strand test.

What looks 'weird' is a matter of personal opinion; some people will make snarky comments about anyone different from them. It can be difficult, but try not to be too bothered by the things people say. Life is much less stressful that way ;)

After about 3 days, after that I don't really see a difference in colour...

First 3 days it could be very orangy if you have light coloured roots....but that settles down in about 3 days for me.

With a henna and cassia mix, mine took about a week to fully oxidize. It was much less bright after day 3, though.

I think mine takes about 3-4 days (henna, cassia, amla mix).
