View Full Version : Help - Idiots Guide to Henna?

Hi all, I'm new here (though been lurking a while!)
Whilst browsing the other day, I found a link to a fab article on here that described what henna, indigo and cassia were and how to use them plus a list of recipes from 'proper' henna to a couple on glosses (one that was a deep conditioner with a colour twist and one gloss that was more colour and less condition).

But I can't find it now! As a henna 'idiot' please could someone point me in the right direction?

(I am a faded redhead - it used to be a rich titian red like fire in the sun, now I'm more a strawberry blonde (think Nicole Kidman in practical magic, its pretty but I'd like to freshen it up a bit) so was going to try a gloss.

Thanks! :)

I know I found it to be most helpful (still do!).

It wasn't but thanks - thats just as helpful.

I'm getting awfully envious of everyones hair, mine used to be long and red but now its shoulder length and I'm trying to grow out layers (nearly there) that a psycho hairdresser put in.

(It had got thin following use of a birth control pill called Yasmin too but that is growing back in now thank goodness, my hair was never thick so it was devastating and I had to have it cut as it looked awfully straggly - the layers made it even worse :().

My New Years resolution is to get my 'old' hair back (even if I have to cheat a bit with henna/cassia glosses!).

Thanks everyone! Loads of useful stuff there! I feel a bit daft as I am a hairdresser (though don't do it prpfessionally any more - too many allergies!) but we never ever worked with henna!

It's lovely here, everyone is so welcoming.

:)
