This is my first time using Henna
I purchased Lush's caca rogue henna on my black asian hair and i ought to say
the smell is quite terrible.
I Added a lot of paprika and lemon to my mix and plain hot water left it in my hair overnight for about 10 hours, i was quite afraid that i would wake up to find blazing red hair as i only wanted a subtle change but then again i have black hair so it should be forgiving, which it was.

i'm wondering what can you mix to achieve a deeper red/plum colour?
silly question but just curious if i leave the henna in my hair for a day will my hair be damaged/break off?
would there be any point if i do, as i still have half the block left if i leave it in longer (15hrs+) will i be able to expect more noticeable results?

I've read that most of you girls prefer BAQ but i'm not sure where to purchase them in australia, melbourne.

Thank-you

If your hair is black, you won't be able to achieve a deep red without lightening your hair first. You will have a red\orange glaze in sunlight, but inside your hair will always look black.
If you want to lighten your hair, you can protect it with coconut oil or try honey.
My hair was dark brown and I lightened it with peroxide before hennaing. It worked well, and I loved my hair color, but it was just too much work, so I stopped and now I'm growing my natural brown hair :)
The worst thing is that every month you have to lighten your hair first and then henna, it was really really a lot of work.

Oh okay, is there any way to lighten your hair without using harsh chemicals?
I heard you can lighten it with lemons?

My hair was bleached a lot before hand until i grew it out so my hair isn't jet black, its brown black

You can lighten you hair safely with honey: Honey Lightening (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=61)
You can also use regular hair dye with a low volume developer (http://www.ehow.com/how_5851241_bleach-hair.html) or a low peroxide bleach and reduce the damage by doing an overnight coconut oil soak and bleaching while the oil is still on your hair: The uses of coconut oil (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=53786&highlight=coconut+oil)
Here is more information on coloring your hair naturally: Hair Coloring with Herbs, Plants & Other Natural Ingredients (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/vbjournal.php?do=article&articleid=2)

Hope all that helps. :D Good luck!
