Hello - newbie here. I mixed up a batch of cassia/fenugreek and due to poor time management, it sat covered up on the counter for 2 days.

Is there any reason I can't still use it? I hate to waste it....

OK. I am going to go ahead and try it. I'll let you know the results...

No idea if it's ok to use it if it's been sitting out for that long, but...
Did you find your cassia somewhere in Montana or did you have to order it? I found a great deal online for buying in bulk, but I've been trying to find a small amount locally to decide whether I even like cassia treatments.

The Good Food Store in Missoula sells "neutral henna" which is cassia, if you just want to try it.

I ordered medicinal senna from Herbalcom.com which is the same as cassia.
It was very inexpensive, and they charge a flat shipping fee, so I got some other spices while there. I got a whole pound of catnip for Psycho-Kitty for less than $9.00!!

Awesome! I saw some "blonde henna" at Meadowsweet Herbs, but I don't remember seeing an ingredients list for it to know if there was anything weird in it...I will have to check out the GFS stuff.

I've been eyeing the senna from herbco.com since it's only $3/lb, but I have no idea what I'd do with a whole pound of the stuff if it ends up not working for me. I should compare their prices/shipping to herbalcom's.

I don't even want to know what would happen if I had a pound of catnip lying around. My little monster is psycho enough already!

If the point of this was for color, the color (yellow) of the cassia will have broken down by this time. If its for other hair problems or conditioning, it should be just fine.

I don't see why it wouldn't still be good (as long as there is no mold growing on it). My rule of thumb is that if it smells ok then it is still good. Not to hyjack a thread but I was wondering if anyone knows if cassia is the same as the senna they referr to in laxatives? There is a whole bottle of pure senna powder (my mom's....don't ask) sitting under the sink and I was wondering if it would have the same effects on my hair as cassia. I hate to have to throw away something useful....

Results report: The mixture worked fine. Lovely cassia experience as always. Thanks for the info!

Yup, same stuff. That's the stuff they have at Herbco for $3/lb, I use it in my henna/cassia mix, and it works just like the pricier other type of cassia I'd bought from H4H. The only problem you could encounter is that some people have issues with the senna absorbing through their scalp and having a laxative effect. Me, I have the opposite problem, so Murphy's Law being what it is, it doesn't have a laxative effect on me at all, I should be so lucky...
