So I'd like to do a deep EVOO treatment but the last time I oiled too heavily after I shampooed and it didn't come out very well. Would it remove the benefits of a deep oiling if I did it as a pre-shower treatment? Also, how much should I use? I don't want to go overboard but don't want it not to work.

Usually I 'deep oil' the night before a wash...also, massaging the length with a cone free conditioner that is slightly thick will help remove the oil better than shampoo. Some people CWC and have great results.

I like pre-wash oiling with coconut oil - at least an hour to a day before washing. I CWC with diluted shampoo most of the time. Sometimes my hair still feels a little oily when it's wet, but it doesn't look oily after it has dried. If it does, I know it's time for a deep clarifying wash with full-strength shampoo (every 3-4 months).

I like to really glob on cone free condish to my oiled hair and leave it on 30 min. or so before I rinse it out (to dry "oiled" hair). Last night I oiled with coconut oil before bed and then this morning decided to put on some castor oil for an hour before my shower. I applied lots of Tresemme Naturals condish. before my shower and then rinsed really well. Afterwards, I did another CO with Vo5 strawberry & cream (love the smell!) and my hair came out really clean...no shampoo. I've only used CO to remove heavy oil and I'm a little afraid to use shampoo. :p But I do shampoo at least once a week, though.

I oil the night before. I used to use WAY TOO MUCH. I slathered EVOO all over the place. Now I use 1 Tbsp. mixed with 1 Tbsp. cone-free conditioner, and keep it in my hair overnight with a shower cap on. The next morning, I CWC. Conditioner really helps get the oil out.
