Hi,
I have used a Rosemary infusion rinse on my cat, and her coat felt very soft. I have also used it on my horse.
I have heard that a nettle rinse is really good for hair as well.
Has anyone done either of these?
Thanks,
Ivy

I've often used rosemary rinses and still do occasionally. I find that they tend to make my silvers look green now so I've switched to other herbs. Rosemary is meant to be particularly good for brunettes.
I've never tried nettle but I'm sure that I've read somewhere that it's good for hair. Why not try it and see for yourself?
For herbal teas I use approx 2 tablespoons of fresh herbs (halve that for dried) to 1 cup of water.

Perfect for me then!
Thanks! I will try the nettle rinse and report back sometime in the next couple of weeks!

Nettle rinses are wonderful!
I make daily infusions of a strong nettle tea, and I chuck the leftover herb into a container with water and let it sit in my fridge for a day or two. It makes a rather weak tea, but it's super cold, which is great for a rinse because I can't get myself to shower in cooler water! :o Sometimes I add a drop or two of rosemary essential oil, and a splash of either rosewater or apple cider vinegar, depending on if it needs some clarifying.
Nettle supposedly helps combat shedding, and rosemary boosts circulation to the scalp. And they leave hair feeling silky and shiny, too!

Your cat let you wash her?! :disbelief: My cat would maul me to death. I usually zest a lime and rub it in her fur when she starts to smell. Rosemary washes don't do much for my hair except make it smell good and maybe reduce frizz a bit.

I have done both rosemary and nettle rinses :) I find for me that nettle gives more shine.

nettle tea smells nasty but its good for you, probably more beneficial to drink or eat the fresh nettles cooked. I would not want the smell lingering in my hair.
Have done Rosemary rinses lots before. I stick with Catnip now :)

I've tried nettle rinses with good results. I make a strong tea, wait till it cools, and use it as a final rinse. It's also really nice when you add a little ACV or hibiscus, I find.

Rosemary rinse is my go to treatment anytime i have a problem with my scalp....it usually fixes it fairly instantly. I've not noticed it do much for my length though. I use the essential oil in my cider vinegar rinse but good as that is the EO hasn't performed as well as the infusion.
I have a policy of always growing rosemary wherever i live so that i know i can fix my scalp if need be.
I agree with Brunette about the nettle, an infusion of the herb would probably have a better effect drinking it (or added to soups/stews is good) for hair growth the roots are what seem to be most effective applied topically whereas infusions are usually of the leaves. They are very nourishing though and rich in minerals....in herbalism nettle leaf infusion is used as a tonic to strengthen the entire system, especially after illness and to strengthen the blood. Better blood = nourishing the developing hair....presumably resulting in better hair growth.

I've been doing some experimenting with hibiscus/rosemary rinses lately. My hair doesn't need much cleaning, so I don't need anything very strong. I haven't been doing them long enough to see any real changes, but so far my hair seems to like them. I have seen a low shed rate in comparison to using Indian herbs, which for some reason make me shed a ton.

I tried nettle for increased circulation/hair growth, but didn't notice anything different or more growth, so I stopped. I make rosemary rinses for my son, who has an oily scalp - they do help curb oil production, if that's an issue.

I do a rosemary rinse, but add a couple of green & black teabags to the mixture. Since using it, my hair has become unbelievably soft, which, I believe is the rosemary at work.

I just tried a nettle rinse with some nettle tea bags I found in my pantry and at first it was really tangly and hard to comb out while wet but now that it is dry it is really shiny! :)

I've found with herbal rinses that they tend to feel not-so-great in my hair while it's wet, so I have to just keep my hands off until it dries. Once dry, it feels very different, and much better.

Maybe if you are prepared to try again, use it as an end of wash treatment soak, leave it in for 20 mins to an hour, and then rinse off.

I've tried rosemary rinses a couple of times (mixed with some catnip, too) and my hair really seems to like them. I hope they continue to work! :)

Did my first rosemary rinse last night, with a dash of ACV in it.
My scalp feels wonderful and tingly, and I noticed my waves and curls were more defined. I had less frizz than usual when I brushed after letting it air dry. I think this will become a regular part of my routine, particularly seeing as I have a massive rosemary bush that needs controlling! I'm also thinking of mixing some peppermint tea in with my rosemary while its steeping.

Oh, and my fiancé said my hair was shinier than normal! Yay! ^-^
