okay, just got them out of the mailbox.. and I am suddenly very nervous..
I have auburn bsl curly hair.. I ordered Lush Copper Hair Kit from Henna Sooq with 100 grams of cassia obovata and 100g of yemeni henna.
My neighbor was suppose to trim my hair, but she hasn't got around to it.. should I wait to henna? I will probably s&d on my own or try feye self trim tonight..
I want to bring out the most red I can (hence why i picked yemeni) but not make it too dark.. HELP!! I need some pep talks and hand holding..

As long as you have done strand tests, I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!

Personally, I'd trim before henna...that's just me though!

I would start off with some strand tests to know what result you'll get. :) Good luck!

okay.. trimmed and mix henna last night.. did strand test for about 3 hours this morning.. didn't really see a change in the color.. the henna does turn to a orange stain on skin.. so .. ...
here i sit with it on my head.. I figure I will give it 6 to 8 hours. will keep you posted..

Good luck! If you haven't already read it, here is a great guide on the ins and outs of hennaing http://www.mehandi.com/shop/hennahairbook/index.html

6-8 hours sounds like a long time to leave it in (I only leave mine in for 3) but I think some folks leave theirs in overnight so it can't hurt. I hope you post pics when you are done!

Unless you simulate body heat on your strand test you won't get as much dye uptake. 3 hours on your head, wrapped up nice and warm, is usually plenty.

personally I'd trim too before doing a herbal hair treatment if I was to do that or a hair cut. I also would do it beforehand so that I won't have to use as much product, and therefore save a bit of $$$
