Hi!

My name is Marieke, I'm 24 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I hope to meet a lot of people with long hair here (which isn't a problem I think! ;)). In daily life I'm a teacher (primary school). My hobbies are westernriding, theater, movies, reading and above all: music! This is me and my hair ^_^ (I don't use any stylingproducts, this is my natural hair):

Great hair you've got! I'm jealous already!:D Welcome to LHC and I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. How long did it take you to get it that long? Or are you one of those rare people who kept their hair long throughout their lives?

Hi! Nice to meet you! Thanks for the welcome... :)

About 10 years, I used to have a pony!

My hair is shiny, because I donít use straighteners or hair blowers. (So it takes a long time to dry ;)).
I do use an oil nutritive spray for hair repair...
Iím going to a hairdresser about 3 or 4 months to cut the ends.

Hi,
my name ist maximiliane and (as my nick already tells you) i am from Hamburg/Germany.
I am a 25 year old student living in Bavaria and part-time i am working as a barista.
I have been growing out my hair for two years now but its still only 29" long ;-(
My next goal is to let my layers grow out and reach 40" (it will took years ...)

I hope to get lots of information here (the german "lhc" seems to be tiny in comparison to this forum) and maybe to practice my english (long time since school).

Welcome! Your pictures were lovely and your english was just fine!

So glad to see another person who doesn't use a blowdryer! Natural air drying is best for your hair.

To aid in drying time, you might want to try this:

1 Gently squeeze out as much water as you can
2 Wrap all your hair in a towel for a few minutes
3 Take off the towel and then finger comb your
hair
4 Then take a wide tooth comb to slowly comb out your hair (work from the bottom of the strands up to the scalp). Yes, it takes time, but it's gentler on
your hair
5 When all your hair has been combed and there are
no tangles left, then take a small section of your
hair in your hand, lift your arm up and out, then
let your hair in your hand fall down. Continue doing this until all the hair has been done.
6 Repeat the procedure as required until your hair
is dry.

By using this "fanning" technique you are allowing the air to reach your strands. If you just let your wet hair dry while hanging loose down your back, it will take forever to dry.

When I first started my long hair quest many years ago, I did the "wet hair down the back" routine. After experimenting some I found the "fanning the wet hair strands" routine really worked for me. It took my 46" hair only 20 minutes to dry. Good luck!
