Great twist for APL layered hair!

I just received my Ficcares in the mail and LOVE them; however, I have layered (between jaw and APL) hair that has a hard time going up into a french twist. I did a "reverse" twist, which is probably nothing new to the veterans on this forum, but was so excited by it that I had to share.

It held my hair all day and I can't believe how many compliments I got on it!

I've been doing that twist also -- my hair is also APL but layered with the shortest layers around jaw length, not to mention my growing-out bangs.

I've found a couple other updos that are friendly to layered, not-particularly-long hair:

- Reverse dutch braid (I flip my head over, start the braid from the nape, finish near my forehead and coil it around & pin atop my head).

- Sock bun -- it is gratifyingly fat (my poor cinnabun looks pathetic compared to the longer haired ladies). I wrap a scarf around my head to hide the shorter layers and growing out bangs.

- High ponytail, with little tendrils escaping & curling

- Double french braids (great for hiding short bits) that join into one braid at the nape.

Would love to hear other peoples' solutions to hair that's in the "awkward" stage!

As far as your photo not showing up, I would ask at site support. Did you try hosting the photo at Photobucket or Flickr? Even at that, I'm fuzzy on post count and photo posting privileges.

OK...I think I got the photo up here finally. I started with ponytail higher on my head and twisted down to the nape. At the nape, I folded the twist into the roll, just as you would a normal french twist.

Looks really pretty. I do the same thing with my hair sometimes but pin it. I think it works well with a more medium length hair. I don't have a ficcare yet but NEED one!

When i do a "normal" french twist, it makes a weird knot/bump thing instead of a nice, smooth, tucked twist. These instructions were so much better!

I'm going to try to secure it with hair scroos....
