View Full Version : Just Showing Off
helynhighwater May 6th, 2008, 01:07 PM Wow, I haven't been able to check in here nearly enough lately. Anywho, I want to just brag a little on the hairsticks my father has been making for me as he progresses with his woodworking hobby.
These are ones he made with the idea of a wand in mind, kinda like Harry Potter.

helynhighwater May 6th, 2008, 02:31 PM Yup, I am pretty lucky. Free hairsticks, made to order! :cheese: My mother and I have been keeping him busy with ideas and he confessed to me other week that he finds himself noticing people's hair more when he's out and about than he used to.
I'll be passing these compliments on to him when he gets back from his trip on Friday. I should also get a picture of the new whale tail one he made. He's got the digital camera, so I can't do it now.

Cinnamon Hair May 6th, 2008, 03:21 PM Wow if your dad enjoys making them, he should take them to etsy or ebay (once you and your mother get your fill). Then he could earn some extra $$ on the side. He definitely has talent!
spidermom May 6th, 2008, 03:25 PM If those were for sale, I know which one I'd buy. But they're not........... sucks to be me, huh?
eadwine May 6th, 2008, 03:28 PM Etsy, give him a link to etsy!
Those are just drop dead gorgeous!

He has talked about maybe selling them at some point. He's said he needs to refine the process a little so he can turn them out somewhat faster, though.
eadwine May 6th, 2008, 03:38 PM Well when he does, let us know ;)

cuddledumplin May 6th, 2008, 08:13 PM Those are great! My husband does woodworking; I should get him to try his hand at something like that.
Nevermore May 6th, 2008, 08:30 PM Would your father be willing to make a pair for someone other than (lucky lucky) you? I really like some of those and they look much prettier to me than many of the other sticks I've looked at getting. Obviously, I'd only ask him to make them for me if he a) wanted to and b) after I get a job and can pay for them.
jojo May 6th, 2008, 08:47 PM mmmm...wanna be my bestist friend? there beautiful clever dad you got!
chloeishere May 6th, 2008, 11:00 PM Those are lovely-- they look very professional! You are a lucky girl.
Add me to the list that's interested if he should ever decide to open an etsy shop. And I'd love to see the whale tail!
cindy58 May 7th, 2008, 06:46 AM Those are wonderful! I especially love the last photo. Too cool!
Anje May 7th, 2008, 08:16 AM Very nice! I prefer the turned ones myself (normally preferring something subtle), but the carved ones are fun!

swanns May 7th, 2008, 08:26 AM This is the coolest idea ever! :D Love HP, and these sticks look amazing!

Thank you! Yes and no. The anime style drawing is of me by someone else. The photoshopping is all me, though. :bluebiggr
