I used coconut oil for the first time yesterday evening! I decided to do a deep oil treatment. I sprayed my hair with enough water to get it wet, but not dripping, melted about 2 tablespoons or so of coconut oil (expeller pressed naturally refined coconut oil, since that was what the grocery store had), and spread the oil through my hair. Approximately 2 tablespoons was the amount needed to make the oil slightly coat my hair - at first my hair was just absorbing the oil. I left the oil in for 1 hour and 15 minutes and washed it out using shampoo and conditioner, following with an apple cider vinegar rinse. I didn't add anything to my hair after the final rinse so that I could gauge the effect of the oil treatment.

My hair seems to have really liked the coconut oil, so I'll definitely be trying this again. Of course, I'll also try using a small amount of coconut oil as a leave-in after washing my hair.

Isn't coconut oil fabulous? It's very easy to get addicted to it:)
I apply it in dry hair and use it as an over night pre-wash treatment. I use the organic kind just because I love the smell!

It really is wonderful. :) There are so many different ways that it can be used in the hair alone, not to mention skin care and cooking uses.

I'm glad you're liking it! I just got my first jar (Spectrum Organics Unrefined) a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I use it for pre-wash treatments, lightly after washing on my ends, and to help my braids stay secure and shiny. It works great as a skin moisturizer too! I've been using it on my feet at night (and cover with socks) and it has made my feet soooo much better, they've never been this smooth!

I really love coconut oil too. I use it to seal in moisture after I wash. Just a lite layer is more than enough to keep my hair feeling very well conditioned:D. I actually used it a while back and then stopped - not sure why:shrug:, but when I went back to using it - I fell in love all over again.

Coconut oil rocks....the best oil I have used on my hair so far. I just got done slathering it all over my dry hair and braided it for the night. I'll leave it in until tomorrow night when I wash.
