So I am sitting here with 100g henna and 300g cassia slathered on my head. This is the 3rd hour. I peeked at a bit of it and it sees to have done NOTHING. I see no red.

I am so upset I wasted a ton of money or something.... :(

Okay- so i got mad that I couldn't see any red and took it all out.

Well, it is weasley orange at the roots, but it looks good! I think it will oxydize nicely. Oh how little faith, lol...

Did you make sure that your henna had dye released before you put it on? The other day I used a new batch and just automatically applied it half an hour after mixing, as mu previous henna released the dye very quickly... This one was different. I still got some colour after almost 4 hours on my head, but I'm sure my hair would be redder now had I waited for dye release.

Hijack: jel I love your new siggy picture!

LadyClare I bet it worked okay....What was your starting color? I often find that my cassia/henna mix oxidizes very little; it comes out the color it's gonna be after I wash out the mud. Does anyone else have this?

I will post pics later today- I took them but my camera is screwy and only DH knows how to upload them, lol.

I mixed it up at 8am, 100g henna and 300g cassia with several cups of lemon chamomile tea and the juice of one lemon. I let it sit all day while I was at work- so it was 12 hours total by the time I finished getting it all in (really- I started timing at 8pm, and left it in until about 11:30).

My hair is red anyway, but it is a strawberry red. I just wanted MORE red. It's PERFECT! I actually hope, other than the orangey scalp, that it stays very close to this colour when it oxydizes. When DH saw it this morning he was actually surprised because it isn't a huge change, it really did just brighten my own hair and I am still left with my natural highlights where I had streaks of more blondish hair.

I am so glad I finally did this and that I listened to those of you that told me to do 25/75 instead of 50/50. And especially to whomever it was that said only leave it in 2-3 hours! :)

I can't wait to show you all my pics! Thanks for the help.
