I found a small ad on this oil at the LHC site. The company claims that this oil will make your hair grow 12" a year (30,5 cm). Has anybody tried this oil? Does it really work? Or is it just another "too good to be true products"?

:)

Probably too good to be true, though it would be interesting to see an ingredients list. Then again, the miconazole treatment also seems TGTBT, but people here are seeing impressive results.

Now the Parachute coconut oil they're selling on the same site is good stuff. I can get it a lot cheaper at the international food store near campus, though.

They don't say what's inside, far as I can see. Probably because they either have stuff inside they don't want you to see (some "organic petrolatum" ;-) ) or because they don't want you to run to the store and buy some essential oils by yourself.

I'd try the recipes on LHC before paying money for something without ingredient list, to be honest. And overblown promises do not impress me anymore. I fell for too many of them :-)

But if you try it and your hair grows like weeds in my garden, tell us about it!

Highly doubt it. Hair grows because of the live part: the hair follicle which is fed by blood. That and hormones and genetics. Sometimes we can affect a change, but they're always temporary. We have what we have, unless you keep up the thing that makes the change.

They actually do have a list of ingredients: http://www.myfasthairgrowth.com/pages.php/page/ingredients

Anje: What is a miconazole treatment?

Melisande: I'd sure like to try out this oil, but I'm pregnant at the moment so I just do not want to play around with essential oils until the baby is born. (I'm also dying to try Moonchaser's oil, but will not for the same reason).

I'd be highly sceptical of a product promising something like that, especially as it says it promotes growth through penetrating the hair shaft. However, if you want to try it and it appears safe, you can if you like, although I doubt it would (I tend to be rather sceptical about these things in general, though).

Ok so I looked at the ingredients and what oils they use its nice stuff as i can see but they dont tell you all the ingredients like what the base oil they are using. So I recommend you to go to your local indian store they have the exact same oils and is much cheaper than this site.Plus you can see the ingredients on the bottle before you buy it.Just a suggestion for you:)goodluck.

The miconazole treatment is something that's been tossed around the forum for the last few months. Basically, people are applying creams like Monistat (yes, the stuff women use for yeast infections) with miconazole as the active ingredient to their scalps. Most are reporting moderate to greatly accelerated hair growth, usually on the order of an inch per month, sometimes more like 2 inches/month. (A few reported hair loss instead. If you try it and that happens, stop using it!)

This thread is the latest incarnation of it. (http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=156)

Well, you still don't know what is inside this specific oil. They say:

Each of our products contains at least three of the following active ingredients:...

So, no specific list of ingredients.

Their list looks okay, far as I can tell. I mix my own oil for my scalp and I'm more than content with it. I'd say, research the different options and make your own. Only you can know whether jojoba, coconut or both are good for your hair, etc.

I've seen it on other hair forums - and it is all natural - some members have posted the ingredients. The main ingredients of all of the products are indian herbs in a coconut/jojoba/or seasame seed oil base. It's basically all ayurvedic. But no one has reported "growth" w/it. It's still a nice product from what i hear as far as conditioning goes.

Thank you all for replies and advices on this! :) As for now, I'll just wait until my baby is born - then I have decided to definately go for Moonchaser's oil. I trust a LHC member more than anyone I guess... :):D

I think you have made a good decision, considering there are only 3 ingredients in the oil you posted a link to......moonchasers oil has an amazing list of ingredients so i'd say it's a better bet :)

<Groan> the name alone would have been enough to make me run far, far away. Gro-aut. <groan>

Sounds like you made a good decision! And congratulations on the pregnancy! :)
