View Full Version : Super Rollers
windinherhair October 29th, 2009, 12:54 PM I bought these the other day at a beauty supply store. I got them since I thought they would give bigger curls then my smaller rollers, but they turned out to be just more of a hassle for me. I thought there might be someone out there that would like them, otherwise I am just going to throw them out because I couldn't return them and I don't know anyone else that would use them.
I paid $7.99 per package. There are 2 packages.
I would send them for only $5.00 total for everything, including packaging and shipping. I just want to get rid of them. :)

Sister13 October 29th, 2009, 03:36 PM I like the cat foot in the pic. Made me laugh out loud for the first time today.
Gypsy October 29th, 2009, 04:29 PM Is that kitty's flip flop?:D
I never have been able to master those kinds of rollers, not those ones, not the soft cloth type and barely can do the regular ol' hot rollers.
I feel ya on the hassle!

I am glad it brightened your day!! :D Yes, sometimes it is hard for me to do anything without a cat following me. ;)

Haha, well I was thinking if I put a shoe there that it might give a better idea how big the rollers were. I wear a size 7 1/2.
I have other large pink rollers made out of foam that work well on my hair. They are like these:

I thought that I would try these "super rollers" though, thinking that I had enough hair for them but I felt like they were harder to work with. There must be someone out there that likes them though or you would think they wouldn't make them. :) So if they could make someone else happy then I'll give them away.
klcqtee October 29th, 2009, 06:20 PM I'm interested, but could you please explain how to use them? I don't quite understand what you're supposed to do with them.

Yes, I've used those pink ones and they work pretty well, except that kind of closure leaves a bend or a kink in my hair.
I know some people over on another hair board like those long ones pretty well and the pictures of their sets are very pretty, long spiral curls (on 3b or c to 4c hair!) and that is what got me wanting to try them but I don't have the knack.

Section the hair diagonally or in a straight line. Roll hair from the ends to your scalp. Bend the roller ends to secure. Some people get good results when this is done on damp hair. I usually roll my hair when it is close to dry and I also use gel.

I have gotten the "bent" look on my hair close to my chin which is where I stop rolling and it begins to loosen though as my hair sets a while after taking out the rollers. The curl at the bottom looks good which is what I am really going for because the weight of my hair won't keep curls all the way to my scalp all day anyway.
I also twist my hair before I roll it up. I think that helps prevent the bent look as well as give more volume too.

Hmm.
That's a good idea.
Do you have to make smaller sections to account for the extra mass the twist creates?

I didn't notice having to change the amount of hair I used for each roller because of twisting it.
Since everyone's hair is a different thickness or texture, I think each individual has to test different portions of hair before they know the right look they want. When I first started using rollers I remember putting too much hair into the roller which resulted in not getting enough curl. Same way if I used too little hair, it would be too "poofy." :)
Strangely, I notice that I use less rollers now then what I did when my hair was short. I think when I had short hair my focus was getting the curls all over my head. Now I am really only focusing on getting the ends to curl because I know the curl on the top is going to fall out because of the weight of my hair. That is why some days I am happy to even be left with waves if it is a humid day. The last time I rolled my hair I only used about 8 rollers. I'm really sure I was using double the amount when my hair was chin length. When it was shorter I would curl my hair all the way to the scalp. Now I only bring the rollers up to my chin.

I'm using these in a video of mine:
Look at 0:45-2:15 when I put them in:

And I take them one out at 0:40 in this video:

I would take them, but I have a TON of these, none quite that big, though. I like them, though.
ravenreed November 2nd, 2009, 02:24 PM Very helpful videos! I have been curious about rollers, and these might work for me.
