View Full Version : Trying to Lighten my hair!! I smell like Puke!!
Diamondgirl2003 April 13th, 2008, 02:34 PM So I kind of read through the honey thread and Holy Moly! Thread and Im kinda new so I didn't know if I should post on those or place a new? Sorry if this is the wrong step. Anywho I was so fascinated by the POV of cinnamon. So here I am sitting smelling like puke in the sake of lightening my hair. I wanted it dark but so intrigued so here goes. So you know the Tomato sauce recipe with honey and evoo well no honey in the house so I'm trying this:
EVOO,
Tomato sauce,
Cinnamon and cheap ol'
White Rain conditioner.
and plan to ACV rinse afterwards.
Anyone try this or something like it?!?
I hope the honey wasn't the main factor cause i didn't put any all have peroxide factors so I though hmm, what harm?!?
Well See. I'm only setting in for an hour cause I got to get ready to leave this place in 2 hrs. So let me know what you think if I'm doing something wrong or if you've tried I plan to try with honey later I got to go to the store tonight. Oh yeah I only did the top half cause I like my dark base. I will come back to tell about the results (If my digi worked Id show pics sorry.)
Thanks for looking.

You have done nothing wrong, IMO.
You just created your own recipe with the ingredients you had immediately available.
Yes, the EVOO, cinnamon and tomato sauce all have a peroxide value.
Used separately, they have not been reported to lighten hair much.
Used together without honey? - you may get the lightening you want.
Honey added to the mix may give you more lightening - that depends on the honey too.
Good luck with this - you have the right ingredients barring the honey and the right idea.
amaiaisabella April 13th, 2008, 02:52 PM Hope the stinky smell is worth it! :)
Diamondgirl2003 April 13th, 2008, 03:41 PM Well Just washed out and smells a whole lot better I got to get ready to leave this place before the boyfriend walks in and says"Still not ready?" boys! Towel drying now will post tonight to tell if the smell was worth it! c-ya and thanks ktani for the help and encouragement
Hue April 13th, 2008, 04:14 PM Diamondgirl2003, that's a fascinating experiment. If you go along in a series of such trials, you might want to keep a log somewhere of what you did and what happened. Believe it or not, you will likely forget the details sooner than you think, and having it all in one place makes for much less digging. :)
I'm interested in hearing how it works out.
jojo April 13th, 2008, 04:26 PM sounds an interesting experiment, please put up some before and after photos if you can, id be interested to see the result.
firebird April 13th, 2008, 05:39 PM I hope it worked for you and the smell was worth it! I'm really interested in your results as I've been doing honey lightening treatments myself, so it's interesting to see how the other ingredients work without honey. If you could take some pictures that would be great, in my experience pictures are also very useful for convincing yourself of lightening, I can never really tell until I compare photos!
wintersun99 April 14th, 2008, 12:07 PM and the results were? *drumroll*
Diamondgirl2003 April 15th, 2008, 02:53 PM Sorry no pics my cams not working. I was trying to come on here yesterday but it wasn't letting me, was I the only one?!? Anyways So I didn't see a huge difference(only let set in an hour) and when I was all dried up my boyfriend and I left for the day and went outside he said it had more shimmer in the sun!!! So I was content to say the least!!! I was touching my hair all day afterward cause it left it real soft! I went and bought some honey and I'm gonna give it another go!!! Also I read when doing the cinnamon that if you have dry hair to add an egg yolk, can you imagine the smell then?
ilovelonghair May 29th, 2008, 12:54 AM Any updates yet? I'm curious if this recipe would work better with honey. What would happen if you'd add olive oil as well, the honey lightening recipe is with olive oil.
ktani May 29th, 2008, 05:40 PM With what I know now about tomato sauce and Vitamin C - I would leave it out the future recipes to get the best possible results.
If you want to try a recipe with honey try a 4 parts water to 1 part honey dilution - and no conditioner with just the cinnamon and EVOO.
You can use cold - room temperature - chamomile tea instead of water - everything mixed in only after the tea has cooled.
Chamomile tea can help counter possible cinnamon irritation.
