I just bought one of these of Etsy. The shipping was really super-duper fast. and it is so cute. You can add your own beads to it to match whatever you wear. I immediately ordered another.

That sounds like a great idea!
Your stick would always match your outfit. :)

Ummm...pictures. Where are the pictures of the stick in action? ;)

Love the idea! I just ordered two - we'll see if I can get any of those random "someday I'll make hairsticks" beads to fit on these puppies. :D Thanks for the lead!

How does this work, is the top ball threaded?

Hm, I bet I could fashion one of those out of a piece of body jewelry...

Edit: OMG this was my 4,000th post

yes, the top silver ball screws on to hold the beads in place.

Congrats on 4000!

Hahahaha, you were thinking exactly the same as me. (Or at least close to: I was thinking "Hey... that's totally just a cheap bar for an industrial or something..." >_o )

Those are very neat! I've got a picture of what I did with mine in my hair toy album. The biggest challenge is putting together a set of beads with wide enough holes, that color coordinate, and at just the right total length to be able to screw down the little ball, without leaving metal bar showing. It is useful to have some little beads on hand to fill in spaces, when the larger beads have been chosen. If you like puzzles you will have a great time playing around with various bead combinations! :)

Here is mine:

with a simple lampwork bead, no bead caps - mine don't fit the thicker gauge of the head pin. Have to buy more bead caps.... yes.

If you are interested, Michael's has bars like available in their beading department. They are are marketed for earrings but would easily work for hairstick.

I guess Michael's is something you have in the US...? I don't think I ever saw such a place in Europe, or does any European know better?

Cool!! I might do this with my new Pacificmercantile sticks...

The other way to do this is to use a chopstick. Drill a hole and put in a sleeper type of ear ring that you open and add beads to then close......off to go and raid the bead box

Hmm, seriously old thread just got resurrected. Or is it a zombie?

This is rather funny to see next to your current post count, which is significantly over 7000 as of this posting.
