Do you let your henna dye release for a gloss?

I have seen the instructions on here both ways. Which do you prefer and why? I did a hair ball test with each way and didn't see a huge difference. I am planning on glossing tomorrow and just trying to figure out if I should let my henna sit out tonight. Thanks

Oh sorry, one more question....do you need to put some kind of vaseline or something along your hairline like regular henna, or will the henna gloss not tint your skin?

Whether I do henna or gloss, I don't use vaseline, as I don't find it stains my skin, but YMMV.

When I do gloss (my length) I use whatever henna is left over from doing my roots, then add enough mix in to make enough to cover my length.

My henna is typically frozen directly after mixing and then defrosted. No special time for "dye release".

When I did my strandtest, I let the henna sit for dye release for one hour (I intended to mix it with conditioner and apply right away, but I had to help making dinner), and it turned out nice. And it turned out nice on my hair aswell. So that's what I do. I leave it one hour before mixing with conditioner (or yoghurt, or both :)). Don't know how much difference an hour makes, but why make any changes in the glossing routine?

And to answer your second question: yes, sort of, I use a lotion with a lot of cones on my face, neck and ears. The gloss doesn't stain my skin that bad, but since my fingers always turn out orange for the rest of the day, I try to take precautions to avoid an orange face. I get gloss everywhere. :D

I let my henna sit overnight - I think it was a total of 15 hours or so for dye release. It stained the test patch on my arm, but didn't have any problems once the conditioner was mixed in. It got the paper towel "edging" I put on for drips orange, but it didn't stain my scalp or forehead.
