Hi1 I have been busy reading all the henna info on this site. i am sure I missed a few things. What I do know is regular henna turns your hair red. I don't know if the red is right for me. So I bought some good quality body henna, Mehandi, punjabi prime. I also bought a mix of indigo and henna for brown hair. Tap Dancing Lizard is the site. My question is since my hair is already medium brown with some auburn how dark will an indigo/henna mix make my hair? I just want richer color and I don't mind if it is a little darker. I will hairball test both hennas.

I just love the depth of the color henna gives. You just can't get that kind of gorgeous color from regular dye. It is so rich. I have loved looking at the pictures you all have posted.

The only way to know is to strand test your hair. Keep it warm while it is "cooking" on your hair so to get the same shade you will once it is on your head and being kept warm by your body temperature. Henna will definately give you red, my avatar shows a 50/50 mix of henna and indigo over medium brown hair. I love it, myself but if you do not want red, do not use henna. It does not come out.

I kept my strand test inside my clothes in a ziplock baggie to keep them warm. I'm new at this and still experimenting, but have put some indigo and a little henna now on my hair! Woah!!

kdaniels8811, your hair is the color I am thinking of. I really like it. I just don't want bright red hair, it would not suit me.

tabitie, I will do that with my hairballs, and yours looks very pretty too. Do you think you will go redder? Some of the red shades I have seen are stunning.

Your hair is a lot darker than mine was when I started. The henna will give it shine and red highlights in the sun but will not lighten it at all. Try some strand testing to see what the results will be. Mine did turn out wonderfully! but my hair was a couple shades lighter due to chemical dyes. My natural hair color is closer to yours. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

I will post my results when I do the deed. I am still waiting on my henna to arrive.

Good to know that it won't lighten my hair. That had been my concern all along.
