- I figured that we needed a new thread for the trimmers to track their growth and trims - Just like we had before LHC went down.. I hope Spidermom doesn't mind me starting them up again^^

Luckily I saved my old "data" - so I guess I'll just pick up where I left of.. :D

I've been trimming, well "dusting" trimming once a month for the past 3 months. My hair went from 18" then. My measurement is 21 1/2" today!!! Hurrah!! My ultimate goal for this year is 35"... we'll see what happens.

i trimmed 1cm in dec, and again i will trim 1cm in May. I don't really make that many measurments of my hair! But it propbably wouldn't matter if i join as my trims are pretty far apart.

I trimmed 1/4 inch off last Sunday and did a microtrim on my face framing layers as well. It has been more than 6 months since I last trimmed it.

I got about 3 inches trimmed off a month ago and as of today it's 32.5 inches long. I have no idea what my goal is, right now it's at my natural waist so I will probably let it get back to the top of my pants again. Once it starts growing longer than that, it begins to drive me a little batty.

Hehe, last Saturday I trimmed of 10", taking me to a pixie cut. Then I got sad. Then I found TLHC :). Now I am growing my hair back! But I will have regular trims (like 1/2" twice a year and occasional S&D), to maintin its beautiful current condition.

trimmed 1/2" today. cut bangs back 2", they are at my chin. these grow so much faster because I keep the dry ends at bay. wish I wasn't so scared to do that to my length I might gain some length for doing that. but for now until I guess next year will be 1/2" every two months. I know after a while my ends really thin out and look too wispy and my wurls don't form right. it is like they need the blunt cut to look decent.

measured length today at 26 3/4".

I only trim once or twice a year, but that's not the same as never trimming, so I guess I belong in this thread?

For the record, my last trim was in November. I'm going until at least next month before the next one, but ideally I would like to make it a full year between trims. I do plan to get myself some hair scissors for a good S&D, but I keep putting off going to the store.

April 22, 2008: 29 and 1/8 inches :)

I definitely don't mind. I'm still a trimmer, but I don't measure any more. It made me too paranoid about "losing length", so I put off trims, and the condition of my ends went downhill. No more of that!

April 21, 2008 (after the 9" damage chop): 17"
April 27, 2008 (because I was redoing my updo and mom said it looked a little longer): 17.5"

Is that even possible? Oh well, I'm happy :D

WOAH! I hope so, so that it may happen to me some day!

WOAH! I hope so, so that it may happen to me some day!

I re-measured after washing last night (cause I thought the dirtiness might have been weighing it down) and apparently it IS possible.
Definitely deserves the dancing cheese :cheese:

I'm guessing it's because I cut off 9" and the damage was holding it back. Now I get that 6-month stall at BSL :o

Well when you started the thread about comparing results I was not trimming. Unfortunately my hair got a bit upset with that plan so I'm back to trimming again. I've decided to trim every 6 months as last time round my hair was happy after 6 months of no-trims with dusting. Nothing's set in stone though.

My hair normally grows 0.5" each month with not a lot of seasonal variation.
Joined June 2006 length 24"
[trimmed about 2.5" during year] June 2007 28.75"
[trimmed 2" in January 08] June 2008 32" (estimated).
So that's a net gain of 8" in 2 years, but worth it because I got rid of loads of damage and still have a reasonable hemline.

April 27, 2008: 17.5"
May 1, 2008: 17 5/8"

From now on I'm hiding my tape measure and only taking it out on the first of the month

I am curious ... if I measure my hair am I supposed to measure it wet or dry? my hair is curly some days and almost straight other days so I'm not sure how to measure it without the "noise" of a different wave pattern.

Oo, I never even thought you could keep up with the lenght like this! I might just have to start ;)

I'm not completely sure as to how to measure the lenght of my hair though. I think I'm supposed to start from my front hairline and then just put the plastic tape measure over my head till the very ends of my hair... Is it so?

April 15th 2008 cut off 4 inches.
Current length 25 inches.
Next will be a micro trim in June.

Tmmycat and Swanns:

You can measure your hair wet or dry but you must always use the same method each time.
Dry hair measurement is more accurate as wet hair stretches and may give a difference each time depending on how much you stretch.

If you put the tape on the front of your hairline and put it over your head to the bottom of your hemline, then that is the usual method that most LHC'ers use. You may have your own method but as long as it is consistent every month, then it will show accurate growth.

I have been measuring one dry lock of hair at my forehead (I have layers and each hair on my head is approximately the same length right now). I don't have a tape measure but when it is dry and I pull it straight, it is the length of my comb plus the width of one finger, with a few sparse hairs sticking out further than that. And my hair sits in the nook of my collarbone if I pull it around to the front. ah, measuring without a tape measure! I will report back in a month and see if I have any progress.

I trimmed two weekends ago, still trying to get rid of my extreme taper and even my hemline up. Probably took 1cm off the longest bits. I will try not to trim again until August or September, at the earliest.

Like Spidermom, I'm not obsessing about measuring, because then I get upset and feel like my hair isn't growing. The last 4 inches or more of my hair are still bleach and heat damage, and I probably won't have an even hemline or less taper until these, and my &^@%# layers, are gone.

My goal is waist length but THICK - if that means these tapering ends down to my tailbone, so be it - I want the very thickest part of my hair to be at waist. Right now, it's thickest between APL and shoulder, so a long way to go.

I microtrim every month or when I feel the hemline isnīt straight. I like my 30 inches for now.

Think I shall keep track here, a little belatedly.

April 1 - 34 inches
May 1 - 34.75 inches
Next trim - July

*Very* unusual for me to get that kind of growth, but I had significant changes to my routine during April, guess they worked!
